Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Vgl. Adams B-1178 - Schmidt, 223-226, 231-232. - Eine seltene Frankfurter Folio-Lutherbibel. Der Text folgt der Wittenberger Ausgabe letzter Hand von 1545, dazu kommen die Kapitelsummarien des Nürnberger Predigers Veit Dietrich (1506-1549). Gedruckt hat sie Johann Saur (1573-1636) für den Verleger Vincenz Steinmeyer (1578-1667). Die Zwischentitel zu den Propheten und zum Neuen Testament tragen noch das Jahr 1606. Die Ausgabe beruht also auf der Saur-Steinmeyer-Bibel von 1606 und erschien 1614 mit neuem Haupttitel. Die Holzschnitte gehen auf die Bibelfolge von Virgil Solis zurück. - 6 fehlende Blätter. Leicht wasserranding am Vorderschnitt der ersten 40 Blätter (ohne Beeinträchtigung des Textes). Durchgehend leicht bis stärker stockfleckig. Innenteil in gutem bis sehr gutem Zustand, Holzschnitte in sehr gutem Zustand.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – A rare Frankfurt folio Luther Bible. The text follows the Wittenberg edition of last hand of 1545, supplemented by the chapter summaries of the Nuremberg preacher Veit Dietrich (1506-1549). It was printed by Johann Saur (1573-1636) for the publisher Vincenz Steinmeyer (1578-1667). The divisional title pages for the Prophets and the New Testament still bear the year 1606. The edition is thus based on the Saur-Steinmeyer Bible of 1606 and appeared in 1614 with a new main title page. The woodcuts derive from the biblical series of Virgil Solis. - 6 leaves missing. Slight water staining on the fore-edge of the first 40 leaves (not affecting the text). Light to heavy foxing throughout. Interior in good to very good condition, woodcuts in very good condition.
