Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – Stattliche, reich illustrierte Schaffhausener Luther-Bibel. - Der prächtige Einband auf fünf erhabenen Bünden über an den Kanten geschrägten Holzdecken, der Rücken in sechs mittels Rollenstempel mit Rankenwerk in Palmettendekor gegliederten Fächern, die Deckeln mit drei doppelten Streicheisenrahmen, diese ausgerollt mit floralem Flechtwerk und mit getriebenen und gravierten Messingbeschlägen in floralem Dekor auf den blanken Mittelfelder, sowie mit ebensolchen Eckbeschlägen, intakten Messingschließen und umseitig marmoriertem Schnitt. - Hs. Besitzervermerke des frühen 19. Jh. auf 3. Vorsatz recto und Hinterspiegel, dortselbst auch ein montiertes Blatt mit gedruckten Predigten. - Bl. Bbbb bbbb2 (S. 649/650) leicht beschnitten mit geringem Textverlust im oberen Rand, Paganierungssprung Ss. 163-173, einige weitere Blätter fehlpaginiert. Durchgehend gering gebräunt, nur minimal fleckig, sonst wohlerhaltenes Exmplar dieser Bibel im prächtigen Einband mit kräftigen, teils gratigen Kupferradierungen.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – A representative Schaffhausen Luther Bible, richly illustrated and in a magnificent pigskin binding in Renaissance-style. - With 2 engraved frontispieces and 11 copper plates, some of which are additionally etched, of which 1 with 2 maps and 1 folding. - Binding: The magnificent binding rests on five raised bands set upon wooden boards with bevelled edges. The spine is divided into six compartments, each decorated with a scroll-and-vine motif in a palmette design applied using a roller stamp. The boards feature three double blind stamped frames, these embossed with roller stamps showing floral interlacing and featuring embossed and engraved brass fittings in a floral design on the bare central panels, as well as matching corner fittings, intact brass clasps and a marbled edge throughout. - Handwritten owner's notes from the early 19th century on the recto of the third endpaper and the rear paste-down, where else a mounted sheet of printed sermons. -Fol. Bbbb bbbb2 (pp. 649/650) slightly trimmed with minor loss of text at the top margin. Pagination error between pp. 163-173, a few other folios also mispaginated. Slightly browned throughout, with only minimal staining, otherwise a well-preserved copy of this Luther Bible in a magnificent binding with bold, partly well blurred copperplate engravings.
