Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Dem Werk Pablo Picassos gewidmete Doppel- und Sondernummer der von Tériade herausgegebenen Kunstzeitschrift. Sie versammelt die 180 Zeichnungen, die Picasso im Winter 1953/54 in Vallauris zwischen dem 28. November 1953 und dem 3. Februar 1954 schuf. Die Folge kreist um Maler und Modell, Zirkus- und Theaterfiguren sowie Gestalten einer selbst erfundenen "menschlichen Komödie". Tériade gab sie vollständig und in chronologischer Reihenfolge wieder. Die Heliogravuren in Originalgröße stammen von Draeger Frères, die Farblithographien druckte Mourlot. Picasso entwarf eigens für diese Ausgabe die Einbandillustration in Farblithographie, dazu Frontispiz und Titelblatt. Begleitende Texte steuerten u. a. Michel Leiris und Rebecca West bei. - Gutes Exemplar

Illustrated original paperback (hinges bumped and with tears). A double special issue of the art journal edited by Tériade, devoted to the work of Pablo Picasso. It brings together the 180 drawings that Picasso made in Vallauris in the winter of 1953/54, between 28 November 1953 and 3 February 1954. The series centres on painter and model, circus and theatre figures, and characters from a "human comedy" of his own invention. Tériade reproduced the drawings in full and in chronological order. The full-size heliogravures were printed by Draeger Frères, and the colour lithographs by Mourlot. Picasso designed the cover illustration in colour lithography specially for this issue, along with the frontispiece and title page. Accompanying texts were contributed by Michel Leiris and Rebecca West, among others. - Good copy.
