Lot 91 Barbara Heinisch. Drei Figuren. 1977. Tempera …

Drei Figuren. 1977. Tempera auf Leinwand. 200 x 100 cm. Signiert.

German Post War – Tempera on canvas. Signed. - Overall in very good condition, with fresh and vibrant colors. - The present action painting with Cut forms part of Barbara Heinisch's process-based works, in which the action artist combines naturalistic elements and figuration with a sketch-like painterly approach. The work is the result of a temporally structured creative process, beginning with direct work on a human model. Upon completion of the painting, the canvas is cut by the model according to the artist's instructions, after which the model emerges through the opening in the picture plane. The life-size canvas, bearing both the figurative representation and the incision, is subsequently stretched onto a wooden frame. The act of slashing the canvas makes visible the critical and aggressive dimension characteristic of Heinisch's work, in which impulses of liberation and destruction play a significant role.
