Am Lagerfeuer. 1916. Aquarell und Blei auf Velin. Bildausschnitt 20 x 26 cm. Auf dem Passepartout signiert, datiert und betitelt, verso mit Nachlassstempel. Unter Passepartout montiert. - Papier leicht gegilbt und verso und recto mit dezenten Flecken, verso mit Spuren der Montierung. Insgesamt sehr gut. In feinen Strichen erfasste Komposition.

Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Eindrückliche Zeichnung mit der Darstellung mehrerer Soldaten an einem Lagerfeuer im Ersten Weltkrieg. Das Werk steht charakteristisch für das Ouvre des Nürnberger Künstlers, der zunächst an der Kunstgewerbeschule in Nürnberg und anschließend in München an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste bei Carl Johann Becker-Gundahl studierte. Das Blatt ist als Dokument eines Zeitzeugen von hohem historischen Wert und wirkt umso überzeugender, als Gering nach Ausbruch des Krieges 1914 zum Militärdienst eingezogen und infolge eines Bombenangriffes verschüttet und schwer verletzt geborgen wurde.

Mounted under the mat. - Paper slightly yellowed and with faint stains on both sides, traces of mounting on the verso. Overall in very good condition. A composition rendered in fine lines. - An impressive drawing depicting several soldiers around a campfire during the First World War. The work is characteristic of the oeuvre of the Nuremberg artist, who initially studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Nuremberg and subsequently at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich under Carl Johann Becker-Gundahl. The sheet is of great historical value as a contemporary document and is all the more compelling given that Gering was conscripted into military service after the outbreak of war in 1914 and was buried under rubble following a bombing raid, only to be rescued with serious injuries.
