Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Die vorliegende Zeichnung steht charakteristisch für das OEuvre Bernd Berners, der in einer Schaffensperiode von 50 Jahren immer wieder "Flächenräume" schuf, in denen er intensiv die Verzweigungen von Fläche, Raum und Farbe verhandelte. Das Azurblau, welches sich hier in der Bildmitte in freier Form zu einer farbintensiven, biomorphen Fläche kulminiert, scheint sich in Farbschlieren und -tropfen dynamisch den Bildrändern anzunähern und diese zu überschreiten zu wollen.

A richly colored work with luminous watercolor application. - This drawing is characteristic of the oeuvre of Bernd Berner, who, over a creative period spanning fifty years, repeatedly developed his 'Flächenräume' ('spatial fields'), in which he explored the complex interplay of surface, space, and color. The azure blue that culminates at the center of the composition in a freely formed, intensely colored biomorphic shape appears to extend dynamically toward the edges of the sheet in streaks and droplets of pigment, as if striving to surpass the picture boundaries themselves.
