Lot 75 Bernd Berner. o.T. (Flächenraum). 1985. …
o.T. Insgesamt sehr gut. Farbintensive Arbeit in leuchtender Aquarellierung.
German Post War – Watercolor on Fabriano watercolor paper (with watermark). Signed and dated. - With barely noticeable pinholes along the margins and studio marks on the verso. Overall in very good condition. Color-intensive work with luminous watercolor application. - Bernd Berner ranks among the leading figures of abstract painting in postwar Germany. The present drawing belongs to the group of works known as the 'Flächenräume' ('spatial fields'), a body of work that the artist developed over several decades. In these compositions, Berner explored the interrelationships between color, surface, and space. The composition is structured around a concentrated rectangular field of cobalt blue that forms the visual focus of the sheet. From this dense central area, traces and droplets of color in restrained shades of red, yellow, and green extend across the surrounding surface, lending the work a subtle sense of movement and dynamism.
