Lot 39 Fritz Jarchov. o.T. (abstrakte Komposition). …

o.T. (abstrakte Komposition). 1969. Öl über Graphitstift auf Leinwand. 150 x 98,5 cm. Signiert und datiert. In schmaler Holzleiste gerahmt. - Insgesamt gut.

Geometrical Abstraction – Oil and graphite on canvas. Signed and dated. Framed in a narrow wooden strip frame. - Light surface soiling of the canvas. Predominantly in the lower section slightly foxed. Partially with small brown stains. In the central and upper right areas with some paint loss. Subtle surface abrasions along the edges. Overall in good condition. An excellent work of great formal clarity. - Fritz Jarchov studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich. He subsequently worked as an architect, graphic artist and painter in the Heidelberg-Mannheim region, interrupted by stays in Southern Europe. Jarchov was a member of the Deutscher Werkbund and a founding member of the Heidelberg artists' group "Künstlergruppe 79". In his often collage-like compositions he developed a complex synthesis of geometric and biomorphic forms. While the present large-scale works are dominated by stylistic elements of Cubist mannerism in a flat application of colour, his late work is more strongly shaped by Jarchov's ideological views and the influences of the street theatre "Karawane", which he initiated. Today, Jarchov's works are held, among others, in the collections of the Kunsthalle Kiel, the Kurpfälzisches Museum of the City of Heidelberg, and the Kunsthalle Mannheim.
