Die Sätze und Worte, die bestehenden Maximen und Klischees nachempfunden sind, komprimieren schwierige, oft kontroverse Ideen in scheinbar selbstverständliche Wahrheiten. In der vorliegenden Edition ist der Satz "Money Creates Taste" in Glas eingeätzt, wobei sich die Worte beim Betrachten durch das Material hindurch verzerren. Diese optische Brechung unterläuft als gestalterisches Mittel die scheinbare Eindeutigkeit der Aussage und macht die Instabilität jeder vermeintlichen Wahrheit sinnlich erfahrbar.

One of 90 copies. - Published by Kunstverein Ulm, 2004. - Since the late 1970s, the short, apodictically formulated statements known as 'Truisms' have formed the core of Jenny Holzer's work. The sentences and words, which are modelled on existing maxims and clichés, condense difficult, often controversial ideas into seemingly self-evident truths. In this edition, the phrase "Money Creates Taste" is etched into glass, causing the words to appear distorted when viewed through the material. As a design device, this optical refraction undermines the apparent unambiguity of the statement and makes the instability of any supposed truth perceptible to the senses.
