Zeitgenössische Kunst – Baumgärtel 1894. - Eines von 33 Exemplaren. - Seit 1986 markiert Thomas Baumgärtel die Eingänge von Kunstmuseen und Galerien mit der in Pochoir-Technik gesprayten Banane und setzt damit nicht nur ein individuelles Qualitätssiegel und einen Wegweiser zu Kunstorten. Als Referenz zu Warhols Bananencover für The Velvet Underground & Nico von 1967 überführt er das ikonische Motiv aus dem Atelier in den öffentlichen Raum und kehrt damit die Bewegungsrichtung der Pop Art um: Was bei Warhol die Straße ins Bild holte, trägt Baumgärtel zurück auf die Straße. Die vorliegende dreidimensionale Edition vollzieht diesen Gedanken ein weiteres Mal: Die freistehende Holzskulptur löst das Zeichen aus der Wand und verleiht dem ephemeren Sprühgestus eine dauerhafte physische Präsenz.

Signed. - Overall in very good condition. - One of 33 copies. - Since 1986, Thomas Baumgärtel has been marking the entrances to art museums and galleries with a banana sprayed using the pochoir technique, thereby not only creating a distinctive mark of quality and a signpost to places of art. As a reference to Warhol's banana cover for *The Velvet Underground & Nico* from 1967, he transfers the iconic motif from the studio into public space, thereby reversing the direction of movement in Pop Art: what Warhol brought from the street into the picture, Baumgärtel takes back to the street. This three-dimensional edition takes this idea a step further: the freestanding wooden sculpture detaches the symbol from the wall and lends the ephemeral spray gesture a lasting physical presence.
