Edition Schellmann, München/New York anlässlich der Ausstellung "Walk Off" im Haus der Kunst, München 2007. - Robin Rhode arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von Zeichnung, Performance und Photographie. Seine Wandzeichnungen entstehen in performativen Akten, bei denen der Körper zum Zeichenwerkzeug wird. Die vorliegende Arbeit überträgt diese Praxis in die Abgüsse eines Paars Schuhe, gegossen aus Kohle und Kreide, jenen Materialien, mit denen Rhode seine Wandzeichnungen ausführt. Das beigelegte leere Büttenpapier lädt dazu ein, das Werk durch ein eigenes Action Drawing zu aktivieren und damit die performative Logik fortzuschreiben. Die Edition erschien anlässlich einer großen Performance im Haus der Kunst 2007, bei der 88 Schuhpaare choreografisch eingesetzt wurden, um eine rhythmische Zeichnung im Raum zu erzeugen.

His wall drawings are created through performative acts in which the body becomes a drawing tool. This work translates this practice into casts of a pair of shoes, moulded from charcoal and chalk, the very materials with which Rhode creates his wall drawings. The enclosed blank handmade paper invites the viewer to activate the work through their own action drawing, thereby continuing the performative logic. The edition was published to mark a major performance at the Haus der Kunst in 2007, in which 88 pairs of shoes were used in a choreographed arrangement to create a rhythmic drawing in the space.
