Zeitgenössische Kunst – Eines von 25 Exemplaren. - Hg.
Contemporary Art – Colour silkscreen print on Plexiglas, set into galvanised metal. Signed and numbered on the reverse on a label. - Signed and numbered on the reverse of the label. - Very occasional scuffs on the reverse. Overall, in very good condition. A magnificent print, rich in colour and with an opaque sheen, its contours emphasised by the raised metal mould, which contrasts with the matt surface. - One of 25 copies. - Published by Edition Schellmann, Munich/Berlin, for the Kunsthaus Bregenz, 2006. - The title Trophée refers to a group of works in which Bustamante transfers drawings onto Plexiglas panels using screen printing. For the present work, created for his exhibition at the Kunsthaus Bregenz, Bustamante chose an animal motif that characteristically maintains a balance between a naturalistic, recognisable form and a purely abstract, self-assuredly placed colour symbol. The bright orange bird, cut from metal, distils this tension into an emblematic visual motif that is both figurative and abstract, oscillating between ornamentation and precise composition.
