Neo-Geometric Conceptualism
Geometrische Abstraktion – Vgl. Collection Pictet 100122184-0759. (Variante in Grün).
Geometrical Abstraction – 4 works. Untitled (Dot Series). 1992. Each a color silkscreen on felt-backed cardboard. Signed, dated, and numbered in sequence on a laminated label on the reverse. Magnificent prints with vibrant colors. See Collection Pictet 100122184-0759. (Variation in green). - One of 30 copies. - Published by Eric Linard Editions. - This 1987 silkscreen demonstrates John M. Armleder's consistent turn toward formal series. A flat colored background is punctuated by several uniform circles, thus reflecting on serial image production, geometric order, and the thematic relativization of the individual case. The composition points to Armleder's conceptual affinity with the Neo-Geo movement and his affinity for ornamental structures that oscillate between chance and system. The minimalist formal language and the industrial printing technique reflect his ironically detached approach to the conventions of painting.
