Farbfeldmalerei

Contemporary Art – Acrylic on canvas. Verso signed, dated and titled. - Canvas with very minor pressure marks. Overall very good. The colors bright and vibrant. - The painting will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné. - Vittorio Matino is considered one of the leading representatives of the Italian Color Field School. He is renowned for his large-scale abstract compositions of luminous chromatic intensity, in which color itself becomes the primary means of expression. Characteristic of his work are vertically structured compositions created through the layered application of paint with a palette knife, followed by the exposure of underlying color strata. Influenced by his engagement with non-Western artistic traditions, Matino developed a distinctive visual language that moves beyond both geometric and gestural abstraction. His work was presented in 'Frontiers Reimagined' at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015.
