Zeitgenössische Kunst – Wolfgang Flad, an der Staatlichen Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart ausgebildet und heute in Berlin lebend, arbeitet im Grenzbereich zwischen Skulptur, Relief und Malerei. Im Zentrum steht dabei stets die Oberfläche, die auf unterschiedliche Weise durchformt und in ihrer Materialität sichtbar gemacht wird. Die Serie Dark Side of the Moon nimmt den Mond als Symbol für das Verborgene: Die kraterförmig aufgewühlte Reliefoberfläche evoziert die dem Blick entzogene Seite des Trabanten, das farbig verspiegelte Glas davor überlagert sie mit einem changierenden Farbschleier, der je nach Lichteinfall variiert. Skulpturale Präsenz und malerische Wirkung greifen so ineinander, das Werk präsentiert sich dem Betrachter in immer neuen Licht- und Farbbrechungen. Flads Arbeiten befinden sich in bedeutenden öffentlichen Sammlungen, darunter die Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, das Kunsthaus Zürich und das Centraal Museum Utrecht.

Framed in an object frame and under coloured mirrored glass (unopened). - Overall very good and flawless condition. - Wolfgang Flad works at the intersection of sculpture, relief and painting. The focus is always on the surface, which is shaped in various ways and made visible in its materiality. The series "Dark Side of the Moon" takes the moon as a symbol of the hidden: the crater-like, chiselled relief surface evokes the side of the moon hidden from view, whilst the coloured mirrored glass in front of it overlays it with an iridescent veil of colour that varies depending on the angle of the light. Sculptural presence and painterly effect thus intertwine, so that the work presents itself to the viewer in ever-changing refractions of light and colour. Flad's works are held in major public collections, including the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, the Kunsthaus Zürich and the Centraal Museum Utrecht.
