Lot 307 Angelik Riemer. DOTS 2010-06. 2010. Eitempera …
DOTS 2010-06. 2010. Eitempera auf Leinwand. 60 x 60 cm.
Contemporary Art – Egg tempera on canvas. Signed, dated and titled on the reverse, along with further details of the work. - Very slight and barely visible wear in places along the edges. Overall in very good condition. The abstract composition has a strikingly vivid colour effect. - Angelik Riemer chose the historically significant pigment Paris Blue, also known as Prussian Blue, as the base colour for her abstract work. In this piece, too, the deeply darkened background bears the coloured circular forms - white, red, green, cyan, blue - just as a night sky bears its stars. The specific application of the powdered pigments, prepared using egg tempera, creates fascinating, fluid transitions within the layers of colour, which contribute to the luminous, atmospheric effect of the motif and lend the work its almost cosmological character. The work belongs to the artist's late period, which Riemer herself described as 'multicoloured pointillist interaction'.
