Klassische Moderne – WVZ 3196. - Aus dem Nachlass eines Mitgliedes der Erbengemeinschaft von Christian Arnold. - Wir danken Herrn Arnold-Hoffmann für die hilfreiche Auskunft und Bestätigung der Authentizität der Arbeit. - Stimmungsvolle Komposition in leuchtenden Komplementärkontrasten aus Gelb- und Blautönen mit der Darstellung einer liegenden, männlichen Figur vor einer Bergkette. Christian Arnold verbindet hier zwei seiner bevorzugter Motive, die Landschaft und das Portrait, welche er in gerundeten Formen mit geschwungenen Konturlinien ausführt. Der deutsche Künstler arbeitet bis 1924 als technischer Zeichner und ist ab Mitte der 1920er Jahre als freischaffender Künstler tätig. Als Mitglied im Künstlerbund und in der Vereinigung für junge Kunst in Bremen gilt Arnold als einer der wichtigsten Vertreter der Neuen Sachlichkeit.

Overall in very good condition, with vibrant colours. - From the estate of a member of the heirs' community of Christian Arnold. - We thank Mr. Arnold-Hoffmann for his helpful information and for confirming the authenticity of the work. - An atmospheric composition featuring vibrant complementary contrasts of yellow and blue tones, depicting a reclining male figure against a mountain range. Here, Christian Arnold combines two of his favourite motifs, landscape and portraiture, which he renders in rounded forms with curved contour lines. The German artist worked as a technical draughtsman until 1924 and was active as a freelance artist from the mid-1920s onwards. As a member of the Artists' Association and the Association for Young Art in Bremen, Arnold is regarded as one of the most important representatives of New Objectivity.
