Verso mit Nachlassstempel, in den handschriftlich die Inventarnummer "308 A" eingetragen ist. - Ränder leicht bestoßen und mit kleineren Fehlstellen und Läsuren, partiell wenige Knickspuren, griffpurig besonders verso, partiell blass stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut.

Mai 1991, Lot 91. - Ölkreidezeichnung von Ludwig Meidner, die den Übergang von den apokalyptischen Landschaften der Vorkriegsjahre hin zu einem zunehmend religiös aufgeladenen Bildvokabular spiegelt. Die dichte, diagonal geschichtete Schraffur verlieht dem Blatt eine intensive Qualität und zeugt von Meidners virtuosen Umgang mit dem Medium der Zeichnung, das er in den frühen 1920er Jahren zunehmend gegenüber der Malerei bevorzugte.

Stamped on the reverse by the estate. - Edges slightly bumped with minor losses and wear, a few creases in places, slightly rough to the touch, particularly on the reverse, some faint foxing in places. Overall in good condition. - Not in Breuer/Wagemann. - An oil pastel drawing by Ludwig Meidner, marking the transition from the apocalyptic landscapes of the pre-war years to an increasingly religiously charged visual vocabulary. The dense, diagonally layered hatching lends the sheet an intense quality and testifies to Meidner's masterful command of the medium of drawing, which he increasingly favoured over painting in the early 1920s.
