Kinder am Fenster. 1922. Kaltnadel auf Velin. 31,3 x 22 cm (47,4 cm x 37 cm). Signiert. Punktuell auf Passepartoutrückseite montiert. - Leicht unregelmäßig gebräunt, punktuelle, kleine blassbraune Flecken, von verso leicht durchschlagend, Papier punktuell in Rändern ganz leicht gewellt, kleine Randeinrisse am rechten und linken Rand (ca. 0,8 mm), im oberen rechten Blattbereich ein längerer, von verso professionell geschlossener Einriss, untere linke Ecke mit professioneller Papierergänzung, insgesamt gut. Ausgezeichneter, feingratiger Druck mit breitem Rand, an zwei Seiten mit dem Schöpfrand.

Klassische Moderne – Hofmaier 237 II B c (von d). - Eines von 100 Exemplaren. - Hrsg. v. R. Piper & Co., München. - Das Blatt entsteht in Erinnerung an Szenen von Beckmanns Kindheit. In seinem Tagebuch schreibt er am 14. September 1945: "Des Nachts ist der Rokin die Straße in Amsterdam, wo Beckmann von 1937-47 lebt und arbeitet wieder hell und ich dachte an mich als Kind in Leipzig wenn ich mit Lixer auf die nächtlich erleuchtete Strasse sah." (zit. nach Hofmaier, S. 606).

Classical Modernism – Drypoint on wove paper. Signed. Spot-mounted to mat's back. - Slightly irregularly browned, isolated, small faint-brown stains, slightly seeping through from onto verso, paper very slightly buckled in few spots in margins, small marginal tears on right and left (ca. 0.8 mm), elongated, from verso professionally closed tear in upper right sheet area, professional paper addition in lower left corner, all in all good. Superb, finely-burred impression with wide margin, deckle edge on two sides. - One of 100 copies. - Publ. by R. Piper & Co., Munich. - The print is inspired by memories of Beckmann's childhood. His diary mentions the Rokin in Amsterdam, where he lives and works from 1937-47, and lets the artist think back of himself as a child in Leipzig.
