Lot und seine Töchter. 1956. Radierung auf Montval. 31,6 x 24,7 cm. (40 x 31 cm). Signiert. In den oberen Ecken unter Passepartout montiert. - Partiell leicht knickspurig. Vereinzelt kleine Einrisse im Rand. Geringfügig angeschmutzt. Insgesamt gut. Ausgezeichneter, gratiger Druck.
Klassische Moderne – Vgl. Cramer, 29. - Erschienen 1956 in der Illustrationsfolge "Die Bibel" bei E. Tériade, Paris. Gedruckt bei Raymond Haasen, Paris. Die Radierplatten entstanden in den Jahren 1931 bis 1939 im Auftrag des Kunsthändlers Ambroise Vollard, dessen Tod sowie die nachfolgenden Kriegswirren die Veröffentlichung bis 1956 verzögerten. Das vorliegende Blatt zeigt die biblische Szene aus Genesis XIX in der für Chagall typischen, tiefen und nuancenreichen Ausarbeitung der Radiernadel.

Overall good. Superb, rich impression. - Cf. Cramer, 29. - Published in 1956 in the series of illustrations "The Bible" by E. Tériade, Paris. Printed by Raymond Haasen, Paris. The etching plates were executed between 1931 and 1939 on behalf of the art dealer Ambroise Vollard, whose death and the subsequent disruptions of the war delayed publication until 1956. The present sheet depicts the biblical scene from Genesis XIX in Chagall's characteristic, deep and nuanced execution of the etching needle.
