Das Album vereint 19 Lithographien - sieben davon von Miró - als visuelle Antworten auf Texte des französischen Dichters Raymond Queneau, der bereits 1949 für Mirós Bildzeichen den Begriff der "Miroglyphe" geprägt hatte. Queneau bezeichnete damit eine Malerei, die nicht betrachtet, sondern entziffert werden will. Auch im vorliegenden Blatt fügen sich die einzelnen Elemente zu einem enigmatischen semantischen Gefüge, einer Schrift, die lesbar scheint, ohne sich je ganz zu erschließen.

A magnificent print with a nuanced, chalky effect. - One of 75 copies. - Published by Edition Maeght, Paris 1961. - From Album 19, one of Miró's most significant printmaking collaborations. The album brings together 19 lithographs - seven of them by Miró - as visual responses to texts by the French poet Raymond Queneau, who had already coined the term 'Miroglyph' for Miró's pictorial symbols in 1949. Queneau used this term to describe a form of painting that is not meant to be viewed, but rather deciphered. In this sheet, too, the individual elements come together to form an enigmatic semantic structure, a script that appears legible without ever fully revealing itself.
