Femme au cep de vigne (4). Um 1902. Lithographie auf Arches Velin (mit Wz.). 23 x 17 cm (33 x 24,5 cm). Im Stein signiert und mit Bezeichnung von fremder Hand. Punktuell auf Unterlage und unter Passepartout montiert. - Partiell mit leichten Lichträndern, Kanten kaum merklich angeschmutzt, verso je mit Resten früherer Montierung. Insgesamt sehr gut. Ausgezeichneter, kreidiger Druck.

Jahrhundertwende – Roger-Marx, Nr.22. - Blatt aus der zwölfteiligen Folge "Femme au cep du vine", in der Renoir weibliche Akte in den Weinreben darstellt und das ihm motivisch dazu dient, Figur und natürliche Umgebung in fließende, ornamental wirkende Kompositionen zu übersetzen. Die hier vorliegende zweite Variante des Motivs zeigt in skizzenhafter Unmittelbarkeit zwei weibliche Figuren, die inmitten angedeuteter Weinstöcke ganz auf ihre Tätigkeit konzentriert sind. Renoir setzt die Figuren mit wenigen, sicher geführten Strichen, die von seiner zeichnerischen Souveränität zeugen.

Fin de Siecle – Lithograph on Arches vellum (with watermark). Signed in stone and inscribed by another hand. Mounted in places on backing paper and beneath the passe-partout. - Partially with slight foxing, edges with barely noticeable soiling, with remnants of previous mounting on the reverse. Overall very good. Excellent, chalky print. - Roger-Marx, No. 22. - A sheet from the twelve-part series *Femme au cep du vine*, in which Renoir depicts female nudes amidst the vines, using this motif to translate the figures and their natural surroundings into fluid, ornamental compositions. This second variation on the motif, shown here, depicts two female figures with sketch-like immediacy, wholly absorbed in their activity amidst the suggested vines. Renoir renders the figures with a few confident strokes, which bear witness to his mastery of drawing.
