Ostdeutsche Kunst – Wir danken dem Archiv Robert Lettner für die freundliche Bestätigung der Authentizität des Werkes. - Die vorliegende Arbeit gehört zur Werkserie der Balkenbilder, die Robert Lettner über mehr als drei Jahrzehnte begleitete und die als eine der zentralen Konstanten seines Oeuvres zu verstehen ist. Die horizontale Gliederung der Bildfläche folgt dem charakteristischen Prinzip einer visuellen Unendlichkeit als Sichtfenster in eine Utopie. Der mit Kompressor betriebene Luftpinsel verleiht der Arbeit eine besondere Körnigkeit und ermöglicht ein die Wahrnehmung herausforderndes Wechselspiel zwischen Schärfe und Unschärfe, das die Bildfläche beständig zwischen Flächigkeit und schier endloser räumlicher Tiefe changieren lässt. - Werke Lettners befinden sich in den Sammlungen des MUMOK Wien, der Albertina Wien und der Hamburger Kunsthalle. Das Belvedere Wien verwahrt ebenfalls Arbeiten des Künstlers. In der großen Überblicksausstellung "The Beginning. Österreichische Kunst von 1945 bis 1980" in der Albertina modern wurde sein Werk prominent gewürdigt.

Overall, in very good condition. - We would like to thank the Robert Lettner Archive for kindly confirming the authenticity of the work. - This work forms part of the 'Balkenbilder' series, which Robert Lettner pursued for more than three decades and which is regarded as one of the central constants of his oeuvre. The horizontal division of the picture plane follows the characteristic principle of visual infinity as a window onto a utopia. The compressor-powered airbrush lends the work a distinctive graininess and enables a interplay between sharpness and blurriness that challenges the viewer's perception, causing the picture plane to oscillate constantly between flatness and seemingly endless spatial depth. - Works by Lettner are held in the collections of MUMOK Vienna, the Albertina Vienna and the Hamburger Kunsthalle. The Belvedere in Vienna also holds works by the artist. His work was prominently featured in the major retrospective exhibition 'The Beginning. Austrian Art from 1945 to 1980' at the Albertina modern.
