East German Art – Set of 10 depictions: Lithographs on woven paper (some with watermark). Approx. 21 x 18 cm to 41 x 25 cm (50 x 38 cm to 60.5 x 42.5 cm). Each signed and dated. One sheet numbered and titled verso. - Slightly toned overall and sporadically foxed. Edges and margins partly lightly bumped. Occasional light handling marks, verso with mounting remnants, slightly creased, as well as partial surface abrasions. Two sheets with printing-related waviness surface. - One of 50 copies (nude), the remaining sheets unnumbered. - Fritz Cremer is one of the most distinctive sculptors of post-war German modernism and is particularly known for his expressive figurative works. In addition to his political and commemorative sculptures, his oeuvre also includes a series of erotic depictions in which he explores the human body in a highly condensed, often roughly modelled form. These works are characterised by an immediate physical presence and a reduced, tension-filled formal language.
