Online - Moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst – Mit der geritzen Ortsbezeichnung des Sterbeortes des Künstlers, Königslutter. - Die vorliegende, kleinformatige Skulptur entsteht in einer Schaffensphase Maatschs nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, in der der Künstler nach neuen, freien Ausdrucksformen sucht und sich zunehmend einer biomorphen Abstraktion zuwendet. Es entstehen für den Künstler untypische Arbeiten, wie Holzschnitte und Skulpturen, die konstruktive Elemente mit floralen und figuralen Motiven verschmelzen lassen und die sich deutlich von seinem restlichen OEuvre unterscheiden.
