Unzeit. 1984/85. Öl auf Leinwand. 68 x 72 cm. Recto und verso signiert und datiert, verso am Rahmen betitelt und mit typographischem Etikett. In Künstlerleiste gerahmt. - Dezentes Craquelé. Insgesamt sehr gut, die Farben frisch.

Deutsche Nachkriegsmoderne – Der Künstler Thomas Niggl studiert zunächst in München Architektur und gründet Ende der 1960er Jahre mit Heimrad Prem und Christian d'Orville den Omnibus Verlag. 1976 wird er Mitglied des Kollektiv Herzogstrasse, deren Teilnehmer das Malen in der Gruppe als reformatorischen Akt sahen. Mit ihren Malaktionen lehnte die Gruppe sich gegen den Geniekult des abgeschiedenen Künstlers und ermöglichte somit einen Ausweg aus der sozialen Isolation.

German Post War – Oil on canvas. Signed and dated recto and verso, titled verso on the frame and with printed label. Framed in artist's frame. - Subtle craquelure. Overall in very good condition, the colors fresh. - Artist Thomas Niggl initially studied architecture in Munich and, in the late 1960s, founded Omnibus Verlag together with Heimrad Prem and Christian d'Orville. In 1976, he became a member of the Kollektiv Herzogstrasse, whose participants regarded collaborative painting as a reformative act. Through their painting campaigns, the group opposed the cult of the isolated artistic genius and thereby offered a way out of social isolation.
