Naturwissenschaften – Die Tafel steht im Zusammenhang mit der Firma Fr. Melsbach in Sobernheim, einer 1832 gegründeten Kartonage- und Papierwarenfabrik mit Lithographie sowie Buch- und Steindruckerei, die sich auf Druckwaren für Apotheken spezialisierte. Das Unternehmen stellte individuelle Etiketten, Geschäftsdrucksachen und Verpackungen für Apotheken her und ist heute durch umfangreiche Bestände im Deutschen Apotheken-Museum dokumentiert. Das vorliegende Objekt veranschaulicht diesen Bereich pharmazeutischer Gebrauchsgraphik in dekorativer Präsentationsform. Es versammelt historische Apothekenetiketten mit Gebrauchsbezeichnungen sowie individuell gestalteten Etiketten einzelner Apotheken. Die Beispiele reichen von schlicht typografischen Lösungen bis zu ornamental ausgeführten Entwürfen mit Wappen und Tiermotiven. Regional verweisen sie vor allem auf den west- und südwestdeutschen Raum mit einzelnen Bezügen in angrenzende Gebiete.

Wood painted black and gilded. Inscribed at the top with 'Fr. Melsbach in Sobernheim'. - The plaque is associated with the firm of Fr. Melsbach in Sobernheim, a cardboard and paper goods factory founded in 1832, which also operated a lithography, book and stone-printing workshop specialising in printed materials for pharmacies. The company produced customised labels, business stationery and packaging for pharmacies and is today documented through extensive collections in the German Pharmacy Museum. This exhibit illustrates this area of pharmaceutical commercial design in a decorative presentation format. It brings together historical pharmacy labels with usage instructions as well as custom-designed labels from individual pharmacies. The examples range from simple typographic solutions to ornate designs featuring coats of arms and animal motifs. Regionally, they primarily relate to western and south-western Germany, with occasional references to neighbouring areas.
