Historia Plantarum. Earum Imagines, Nomenclaturae & Qualitates, et Natale Solum. Quibus accessêre simplicium medicamentoru(m) facultates, secundum Locos & genera, ex Dioscoride. 2 Teile i. e. Band. Mit illustrativer Titelbordüre im Holzschnitt und 637 großen Textholzschnitten. Lyron, Gabriel Coter, 1561. 640, 229 (1) S., 13 Bl. (Index). Kl.-8° (12 x 7,5 cm). Barocker Lederband des 17. Jh. mit reicher Vergoldung auf Deckel, Rücken und Stehkanten sowie umseitigen Goldschnitt. Rücken und Decken mittels mehrfachen Streicheisenfileten in 7 Abt. bzw. in Rahmen und Mittelfeld gegliedert, die Mittelfelder jew. mit Medaillons im Fächerstil (Décor a l'éventail) und Pointillé-Verzierungen als Eckstücken, sowie jew. eingefasst in florale Flechtwerkrahmung, Rückenelemente zusätzlich eingefasst mit Punkt- und Bogenlinien, Fächer jew. mit floralen Vignetten bestückt (an den Gelenken teils eingerissen, beschabt).

Naturwissenschaften – Erste Ausgabe von Dupinets reich illustriertem Pflanzenkompendium. - Nissen BBI, 565. - Jagd 85. - Pritzel 2539. - Baudrier IV, 78/79. - Hunt I, 100 (für die 2. Ausg. v. 1567). - Gekürzte Zusammenstellung von Mattiolis "Commentarii" zu Dioskurides, die erstmals 1544 erschienen waren und in verschiedenen Übersetzungen und Ausgaben in ganz Europa Verbreitung fanden. Die reizvollen, meist blattfüllenden und satt gedruckten Textholzschnitte hier verkleinert nach den Tafeln der Ausgabe von 1554. - Stellenweise recht knapp, jedoch ohne Textverlust beschnitten. Titelblatt mit älterem Vermerk "Matthiolus" und verso mit Bleistift um 1900 beschrieben, vorderer fliegender Vorsatz recto im 20. Jh. mit Kugelschreiber. Gegen Ende mit mit schwach sichtbaren Wasserrand, Spiegel mit Leimschatten, etwas gebräunt und vereinzelt fleckig, insgesamt sammelwürdiges Exemplar im dekorativen Einband der Zeit.

Natural Sciences – Botany. - Herbals. - First edition of Dupinet's richly illustrated botanical compendium, profusely illustrated with an illustrative title border in wood-cut and 637 large botanical text woodcuts. - For references see above. - Abridged compilation of Mattioli's "Commentarii" on Dioscorides, which first appeared in 1544 and swiftly circulated throughout Europe in various translations and editions. The charming, mostly large and richly printed wood-cut illustrations are reproduced in reduced size from the plates of the 1554 Mattioli edition. - Trimmed rather narrowly in places, but without loss of text. Title page with an older inscription "Matthiolus" and writing on the verso in pencil around 1900, front fly-leaf recto with writing in ballpoint pen in the 20th century. Towards the end with a faintly visible water stain, paste-downs with glue shadow, in parts browned and with occasional spots, overall a highly collectable copy in an superb baroque binding with rich gold tooling, crowned by a gorgeous décor á l'éventail medallion in the centerpieces of the boards.

Framed tickets are shipped exclusively by a shipping company due to the risk of breakage. Postal shipping is only carried out at the express request and risk of the buyer.
