Architektur – Wohl unikale Dokumentation eines Projektentwurfs zur Erhaltung und Sanierung der Medina des Stadtteils Kadhimiya in Bagdad. - Die unter Beteiligung des Londoner Planungsbüros Mahmood Ali erstellte Projektdokumentation umfasst Häuser, Häuserzeilen, sogar ganze Stadtvierteln, und berücksichtigt sie alle Gebäudeebenen vom Keller bis zum zweiten Stock. Was die vorliegende Dokumentation vermutlich unikal macht, ist, dass die gesamte graphische Gestaltung des Portfolios von Hand ausgeführt wurden, wobei unzählige graphische Elemente (wahrscheinlich Ausschnitte aus Mikrofilmen) auf die gedruckten Grundrisse, Etagenpläne und sonstigen Abbildungen montiert wurden. Zusätzlich sind zahlreiche demographische und sonst statistische Tabellen enthalten. - Die Geschichte der arabischen Medina von Kadhimiya, einem Gebiet im Norden Bagdads, das nach der "al-Kadhimiya-Moschee" benannt ist und um diese herum erbaut wurde, reicht bis ins 8. Jahrhundert zurück. Kadhimiya wird von einer Mehrheit der Schiiten als heilige Stadt angesehen. Das in der vorliegenden Dokumentation ausgearbeitete Projekt konzentriert sich auf Erhaltung und gleichzeitig Modernisierung der organischen Struktur der Medina und beginnt seine Planung mit der ersten städtischen Einheit, dem "Hausgrundstück", das von einem Netz aus Sackgassen umgeben und mit ihnen verbunden ist, mit der Moschee im Zentrum und dem Basar drum herum. Die behandelten Kapitel umfassen ausführliche Berichte und Statistiken zu den Themen "Wohnen", "typisches Haus", "Basare", "Hotel", "Landschaftsgestaltung", "Dienstleistungen" und "Unterkunft", größtenteils in englischer Sprache, teilweise auch auf Arabisch. - Papier mit leichtem Lagergeruch, ansonsten gut erhaltenes einzigartiges architekturgeschichtliches Dokument.

Architecture – Architecture. - Probably unique documentation of a architectural project for the preservation and renovation of the Medina district of Kadhimiya in Baghdad. - Strikingly illustrated throughout with plans, sections, floor plans, elevations, sketches, drawings, and photographic reproductions, many with additionally tipped-on with graphic elements by hand. Bound in the original oblong folio screw binding (spine slightly torn at the ends, somewhat rubbed). - The project's documentation, created with the participation of the London-based planning office Mahmood Ali, covers houses, rows of houses, even entire neighbourhoods, and takes into account all building levels from the basement to the second floor. What probably makes this documentation unique is that the entire graphic design of the portfolio was done by hand, with countless graphic elements (probably excerpts from microfilms) mounted on the printed plans and other illustrations. In addition, numerous demographic and other statistical tables are included. - The history of the Arab medina of Kadhimiya, an area in northern Baghdad named after and built around the 'al-Kadhimiya Mosque', dates back to the 8th century. Kadhimiya is considered a holy city by the majority of Shiites. - The project developed in this documentation focuses on preserving and at the same time modernising the organic structure of the medina and begins its planning with the first urban unit, the 'house plot', which is surrounded and connected by a network of dead-end streets, with the mosque in the centre and the bazaar around it. The chapters covered include detailed reports and statistics on the topics of 'housing', 'typical houses,' 'bazaars,' 'hotels,' 'landscaping,' 'services,' and 'accommodation,' mostly in English, but also partly in Arabic. - Paper with a slight storage odour, otherwise well-preserved unique architectural history document.
