Sütterlin. - Das umfangreiche Werk des österreichischen Anthropologen, Archäologen und Forschungsreisenden Felix von Luschan. Als Direktionsassistent am Völkerkunde Museum in Berlin erworb er bei einer Londoner Auktion eine Reihe von Benin Bronzen. Darauffolgend erstellte er eine Datenbank zu den Bronzen und ordnete diese in 64 Kategorien. Er war außerdem einer der ersten Europäer der die afrikanischen Kunstobjekte in ihrer Kunstfertigkeit gleichrangig zu den europäischen Kunstobjekten einordnete. - Insgesamt sehr sauberes Exemplar.

Green half-cloth binding with black-stamped title and half-cloth folders with black-stamped title (rubbed and bumped). - First edition. - With illustrations after drawings by, among others, B. Ankermann, G. Kilz, and L. Sütterlin. - The extensive work of the Austrian anthropologist, archaeologist, and explorer Felix von Luschan. As assistant director at the Ethnological Museum in Berlin, he acquired a number of Benin bronzes at a London auction. Subsequently, he created a database of the bronzes and organized them into 64 categories. He was also one of the first Europeans to consider African art objects to be of equal artistic merit to European art objects. - Overall, a very clean example.
