Moderne Literatur und Kunst – Wohl unikales Musterbuch des weltweit führenden Herstellers von luxuriösen Panoramatapeten. - Coleman, Brian: Zuber. Two Centuries of Panoramic Wallpaper, 2009. - Für uns kein weiteres Exemplar nachweisbar, CCFr findet lediglich eine Preisliste aus dem 19. Jh. und zwei weitere Kat. des Herstellers aus den 1970er-Jahren. - Die Firma Zuber aus dem elsässischen Rickheim wurde 1797 gegründet und ist bis heute der weltweit führende Hersteller luxuriöser Panoramatapeten mit Schwerpunkt auf romantischen Landschaften und historischen Motiven. Die meisten Tapeten von Zuber sind handbedruckt, hauptsächlich mit den originalen Holzstöcken aus dem 19. Jahrhundert. Später begann Zuber auch andere hochwertige Handdrucktechniken für seine Tapeten anzuwenden, z. B. den Schablonendruck (franz. Pochoir), ein Verfahren, das eine besonders intensive und plastische Farbwiedergabe ermöglicht und auch für das vorliegende Musterbuch Verwendung fand. - Enthält meist mit Titel, Firmenlogo und Inventarnummer versehene Skizzen und Dokumentationen zu 15 Tapeten von Zuber, darunter »Le paysage à chasses« (Die Jagdlandschaft, 1831, 4 farbige Skizzen), »Décor Chinois« (Chinesisches Dekor, 1832, 1), »Eldorado« (1848, 3), »Les courses de cheveaux« (Pferderennen, 1873, 2 graue Skizzen). - Die berühmteste Tapete Zubers, »Vues de l'Amérique du Nord« (Ansichten Nordamerikas, 1834-36) - gedruckt in 32 Bahnen von je 4 Metern Höhe und einem halben Meter Breite - ist hier ebenfalls mit 5 Halbtonreproduktionen der gesamten Szenerie dokumentiert. Diese Tapete wurde 1961 auf Anregung von First Lady Jackie Kennedy im Diplomatischen Empfangsraum des Weißen Hauses angebracht. - Beigefügt zwei maschinengeschriebene, mit hs. Anmerkungen versehene Listen, die vorliegendes Exemplar als jenes eines schwedischen Wiederverkäufers ausweisen. - Titelbl. mit kl., fachkundig hinterlegten Randeinrissen und etws. fingerfleckig, einige Trägerkartons, Tafeln und Seidenpapiere mit Einrissen, mehrere Blätter lose, Seidenpapiere teils mit Fehlstellen und Knickspuren, teils mit hs. Anm. Fehlen zwei der ursprünglich montierten Taf. - Ein äußerst sammelwürdiges, wohl einzigartiges Dokument für die Geschichte der exklusiven Raumausstattung. die verschiedene zwischen 1807 und 1931 entworfene Tapeten darstellen und beschreiben. Die mit Pochoir, Klischee, Halbton und OffsetTafeln allesamt auf braunen Trägerkartons montiert.

Modern Literature and Art – A likely unique pattern book from the world's leading manufacturer of luxury panoramic wallpapers. - Coleman, Brian: Zuber. Two Centuries of Panoramic Wallpaper, 2009. - No other copy is known to us, CCFr only found a 19th-century price list and two other catalogs from this manufacturer dating from the 1970s. - Zuber & Cie, based in Rickheim (Alsace) was founded in 1797 and remains the world's leading manufacturer of luxury panoramic wallpapers, specialising in romantic landscapes and historical motifs. Most Zuber wallpapers are hand-printed, primarily using the original 19th-century wood-blocks. Later, Zuber also began using other high-quality hand-printing techniques for its wallpapers, such as stencil printing (French: pochoir), a process that allows for particularly intense and three-dimensional color reproduction, which was also used for this sample book. - Contains sketches and documentation, mostly with titles, company logo, and inventory numbers, for 15 wallpapers by Zuber, including "Le paysage à chasses" (The Hunting Landscape, 1831, 4 colored sketches), "Décor Chinois" (Chinese Decor, 1832, 1), "Eldorado" (1848, 3), and "Les courses de cheveaux" (Horse Races, 1873, 2 gray sketches). - Zuber's most famous wallpaper, "Vues de l'Amérique du Nord" (Views of North America, 1834-36) - printed in 32 panels, each 4 meters high and half a meter wide - is also documented here with 5 half-tone reproductions of the entire scene. This wallpaper was installed in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House in 1961 at the suggestion of First Lady Jackie Kennedy. - Enclosed are two typewritten lists with handwritten annotations, identifying the present copy as belonging to a Swedish reseller. - Title page with small, expertly repaired tears at the edges and some finger-stains. Some backing boards, plates, and tissue papers with tears. Several sheets loose, ome tissue papers with losses and creases, some plates with handwritten annotations. Two of the originally mounted plates are missing. - An extremely collectible, probably unique document for the history of exclusive interior design.
