Geschichtswissenschaften – Erste Ausgabe, anonym erschienen. - Mit Stempel des Gymnasiums zu Neuss. - Edgar Bauer war ein politisch-philosophischer Schriftsteller und Aktivist und der jüngere Bruder des bedeutenden Junghegelianers und Theologen Bruno Bauer. Nachdem er während des Schleswig-Holsteinischen Kriegs für die Altonaer Zeitung gearbeitet hatte, flüchtete er nach London, wo er auch auf Karl Marx traf. - Tls. mit hs. Anmerkungen auf den Vorsätzen. Ränder stärker gebräunt, tls. stärker stockfleckig. Insgesamt gut.

Half leather with handwritten label (rubbed and scuffed, one capital letter damaged). - First edition, published anonymously. - With stamp of the Gymnasium zu Neuss. - Edgar Bauer was a political-philosophical writer and activist and the younger brother of the important Young Hegelian and theologian Bruno Bauer. After working for the Altonaer Zeitung during the Schleswig-Holstein War, he fled to London, where he also met Karl Marx. - Parts with handwritten notes on the flyleaves. Margins more heavily browned, parts with more severe foxing. Over all good.
