Er war ein Zeitgenosse von Martin Luther und Philipp Melanchthon, mit denen er in Kontakt stand, und veröffentlichte die erste Karte von Bayern. - Die Holzschnitt Portraits, gefertigt von dem schweizerisch-deutschen Zeichner, Kupferätzer und -stecher Jost Amman, zeigen den Autor Johannes Aventinus sowie die ersten 12 deutschen Fürsten. - Vorsätze und Titelblatt mit Randläsuren und Einrissen. Vorsätze mit Klebeband repariert. Tls. wasserfleckig. Insgesamt gut erhalten.
History – Bavaria - With 1 title woodcut and 13 woodcut portraits. Vellum with handwritten title and colored edges (scuffed and rubbed, stained). - Rare. - Third German edition of the work first published in German in 1566. - With stamped ownership notes of the Thaller family. - Work by the German historian and court historiographer Johannes Aventinus. He was a contemporary of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon, with whom he was in contact, and published the first map of Bavaria. - The woodcut portraits, created by the Swiss-German draughtsman, copperplate engraver, and etcher Jost Amman, show the author Johannes Aventinus and the first 12 German princes. - Endpapers and title page with marginal wear and tears. Endpapers repaired with adhesive tape. Some water stains. Overall in good condition.
