Pub. Ovidii Nasonis Metamorphosis. Imaginibus in aes incisis illustrata. Mit 146 (von 150), großteils zusätzlich radierten Kupfertafeln von M. Küsel nach J. W. Baur, alle in der Platte mit lateinischer Legende versehen und nummeriert. Augsburg, Kysell, 1681. 3 Bl. (2 w., Tit.), 146 Bl., 2 Bl. (w.) Querformat (200 x 165 mm). Ebd. aus geglätt. Kalbsldr. d. Zt. auf vier erhabenen Bünden, die mit Streicheisenfileten gerahmten Decken mit goldgepr., Blatt- und Blütenwerk darstellenden Zierrahmen gerollt und floralen Eckstücken gestempelt, sowie mit Steh- und Innenkantenvergoldung, der Rücken mit goldgepr. Rtit. im zweiten Fach, die anderen vier Fächer mit reicher floraler Vergoldung, dazu Vorsätze aus gekämmten Marmorpapier und umseitigen Goldschnitt (die Gelenke mit alter, kaum sichtbarer Restaurierung, beschabt, die Ecken etw. bestoßen).

Jahrhunderts – Hübsche barocke Radierungsfolge zu Ovids Meisterwerk. - VD17 23:268728C. - Graesse V, 96 und Brunet, IV, 1, 288. - AKL VII, 629 (für Baur). - Variantausgabe der ersten Küseler Ausgabe mit vereinfachtem, lediglich typographischem Titelblatt statt des gestochenen, kalligraphischen auf Deutsch "Wunderliche Verenderung Verschidener Gestalden". - Fehlen die Taf. 137-140. - Tafel 26 mit fachmannisch hinterlegtem Riss. Vorder Vorsatz verso und erstes weißes Bl. mit wenigen kleinen Vermerken, einige Bl. mit zusätlicher Nummerierung mit Bleistift. Stellenweise etw. tinten-, finger- und schmutzfleckig in den weißen Rändern, durchgehend leicht gebräunt, insgesamt präsentables, breitrandiges Exemplar im goldgeschmückten Einband.

Front endpaper verso and first white leaf with a few small annotations, some leaves with additional numbering in pencil. Some ink, finger, and dirt stains in the white margins, slightly browned throughout, overall a presentable, wide-margined copy in a gilt-decorated binding.
