Alte Drucke, Bibeln, Klassische Autoren in den Originalsprachen – VD16 ZV 24770. - Durling 4690. - Wellcome 6667. - Frühe Ausgabe des wichtigen medizinischen Werks des bayerischen Okulisten Bartholomäus Vogtherr (ca. 1480/90 - nach 1540) über das Destillieren und die Bereitung von Pflanzenextrakten zur Behandlung einer Vielzahl innerer und äußerer Leiden. Es ist in 233 kurze, nummerierte Kapitel gegliedert, von denen jedes im Allgemeinen einem bestimmten Leiden gewidmet ist. Die im Titel genannten "ausserlesenen Wasser" beziehen sich in erster Linie auf Pflanzenextrakte und sollen gegen Krankheiten wie Schwindel, "Schwäche des Hauptes", Melancholie, Schlaflosigkeit, Augenleiden, "wann einem Menschen die Ohren geschwollen sind oder unreine Würmer darinnen hat", Zahnschmerzen, "wann ein Mensch einen bösen Magen hat", "wann ein Mensch ein bös faul Leber hat" und vieles mehr helfen. Der schöne, große Holzschnitt auf dem Titelblatt zeigt einen Chemiker in seinem Labor, auf dessen Fußboden mehrere Bündel von Pflanzen liegen, aus denen durch Destillation heilende Wasser und Öle gewonnen werden sollen. Dargestellt sind außerdem eine große Destille auf einem Ofen mit laufendem Destillationsvorgang sowie fünf Regale mit Flaschen, die verschiedene Destillate enthalten und jeweils beschriftet sind. In der Nähe hilft eine Assistentin dem Chemiker, indem sie die Flaschen füllt, während die destillierten Flüssigkeiten entstehen.

Prints before 1600, Bibles, Classics in Original Languages – Early edition of the important medical work by the Bavarian oculist Bartholomäus Vogtherr (ca. 1480/90 - after 1540) on distilling and preparing plant extracts for treating a wide variety of internal and external ailments. It is divided into 233 short, numbered chapters, each generally dedicated to a specific affliction. The "select waters" mentioned in the title primarily refer to plant extracts and are intended to help against diseases such as dizziness, "weakness of the head," melancholy, insomnia, eye ailments, "when a person's ears are swollen or contain impure worms," toothaches, "when a person has a bad stomach," "when a person has a foul, rotten liver," and much more. The beautiful, large woodcut on the title page depicts a chemist in his laboratory, with several bundles of plants lying on the floor from which healing waters and oils are to be obtained through distillation. Also shown are a large still on a furnace with an ongoing distillation process, as well as five shelves with bottles containing various distillates, each labeled. Nearby, an assistant helps the chemist by filling the bottles while the distilled liquids are being produced.
