De Imitatione Christi libri IV. Mit einem gestochenen Titelblatt von Claude Mellan. Paris, Typographia Regia, 1640. 3 Bll., 550 S., 1 Bl. Folio. Geglättes Kalbsldr. d. Zt. mit mit goldgepr. RTitel, reicher RVergoldung und blind- sowie goldgepr. ornamentaler Bordüre auf dem Deckel (leich berieben und bestoßen).

Jahrhunderts – Erster Druck der im Jahr 1640 von Kardinal Richelieu in Nachfolge der "Imprimeurs du roi pour le Grec" gegründeten Manufacture Royale d'Imprimerie. - Duprat, Cataloque Chronologique, N°1. - L'Art du livre à l'Imprimerie nationale, 99. - Mit Exlibris von "HB". - Der ein Augustiner-Chorherr, Mystiker und geistliche Schriftsteller Thomas von Kempen veröfffentlichte im 15. Jahrhundert eine Reihe von Werken, welche als Anleitung für ein christliches und spirituelles Leben dienen sollten. Sein Werk "Die Nachfolge Christi" erschien 1418 zunächst anonym und Kempens Autorschaft war lange Zeit umstritten. Jedoch war die vierbände Reihe nach der Bibel lange das meistverbreitete Buch. - Ränder gebräunt. Durchweg etwas stockfleckig. Insgesamt sehr gut erhalten.

Literature of 17th to 19th Century – First edition published in 1640 by the Manufacture Royale d'Imprimerie, founded by Cardinal Richelieu to succeed the 'Imprimeurs du roi pour le Grec'. - Duprat, Cataloque Chronologique, No. 1. - L'Art du livre à l'Imprimerie nationale, 99. - With an ex-libris by 'HB'. - Thomas à Kempis, an Augustinian canon, mystic and spiritual writer, published a series of works in the 15th century intended as a guide to Christian and spiritual life. His work 'The Imitation of Christ' first appeared anonymously in 1418, and Kempis's authorship was long disputed. However, the four-volume series was, after the Bible, the most widely circulated book for a long time. - Edges browned. Some foxing throughout. Overall in very good condition.
