Moisson. Spätes 19. Jahrhundert. Bronzierter Zinkguss mit goldbrauner Patina. H.36 cm, D. 14 cm (H. 41 cm, D. 19 cm). Am Holzsockel auf Plakette bezeichnet. - In den Vertiefungen leicht angestaubt, partiell dezenter Abrieb sowie Holzsockel mit leichten Spannungsrissen. Figur mit fehlendem Ernteinstrument. Insgesamt gut. Ausgezeichneter Guss mit wirkungsvoller Patina und fein strukturierter Oberflächenmodellierung.

Skulptur

Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Charakteristische Darstellung einer weiblichen Figur mit einem Kind bei der Ernte. Das Werk kann als eine Allegorie auf den landwirtschaftlichen Wohlstand der Belle Époque und die Fülle der Natur gedeutet werden, die in den Plastiken Moreaus meist durch eine junge weibliche Figur und ein Kind repräsentiert werden. Der Künstler verleiht seinen Figuren einen lebendigen, fast tänzerischen Ausdruck, der durch die feine Ausarbeitung des Faltenwurfes der Kleidung und die Torsionen der Körper verstärkt werden. Auguste Moreau war Schüler seines älteren Bruders Mathurin Moreau und beschickte von 1861 bis 1909 in regelmäßigen Abständen den Pariser Salon.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Bronzed zinc casting with golden brown patina. Marked on a plaque on the wooden base. - Slightly dusty in the recesses, partial subtle abrasion and wooden base with slight stress cracks. Figure with missing harvesting tool. Overall good condition. Excellent casting with effective patina and finely structured surface modelling. - Characteristic representation of a female figure with a child during the harvest. The work can be interpreted as an allegory of the agricultural prosperity of the Belle Époque and the abundance of nature, which in Moreau's sculptures is usually represented by a young female figure and a child. The artist gives his figures a lively, almost dance-like expression, which is reinforced by the fine detailing of the folds of their clothing and the torsion of their bodies. Auguste Moreau was a pupil of his older brother Mathurin Moreau and exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon from 1861 to 1909.
