Nach Jean-Antoine Houdon. Le Baiser donné. 2. Hälfte 19. Jahrhundert. Gips, bronziert und patiniert. Auf rechteckigem Sockel montiert. H. 44,5 cm (48 cm). Verso bezeichnet. Im Sockel mit eingelassener Plakette "Baiser par Houdon".

Skulptur

Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. Vereinzelt kleine Kratzspuren. Stellenweise punktuelle Bestoßungen. Leichter Abrieb im Sockel. Insgesamt gut. Ausgezeichnete, deteilreiche Nachbildung.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Plaster, bronzed and patinated. Mounted on a rectangular plinth. Signed on the reverse. The plinth features an inset plaque reading 'Baiser par Houdon'. - This work is based on a well-known model by Jean-Antoine Houdon, known as Le Baiser donné. Composed as a half-figure group, it depicts a couple intimately turned towards one another, whose intertwined posture and softly modelled features create a distinctly intimate, almost fleeting snapshot. The flowing drapery and floral elements accentuate the composition whilst lending it a decorative character. The model is one of the popular motifs of late 18th-century French sculpture and was reproduced many times in the 19th century in various materials, primarily for bourgeois interiors. - Partial surface wear. Isolated small scratch marks. Localised minor chips. Slight wear on the plinth. Overall in good condition. An splendid detailed reproduction.
