Skulptur

Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Das erste von nur 10 Exemplaren. - Privatsammlung, Berlin. - Partiell sehr leicht angestaubt. Insgesamt sehr gut.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Dark brown patinated bronze. With the artist's stamp W.G. Partially slightly dusty. Overall very good condition. - The first of only 10 copies. - Private collection, Berlin. - Cast by Barth, Rinteln. - The sculpture Träumende, created in 1972, shows how Waldemar Grzimek's work continued to condense into concentrated figuration in his later creative years. In this work, the female figure appears introverted, her head slightly inclined, her posture composed, every external action withdrawn in favour of an inner state. The surface is softly modelled, traces of the sculptural process are partially visible, lending the figure a lively presence. In the context of Grzimek's biography, who played a key role in Germany's cultural reconstruction after the Second World War, The Dreamer stands as a conscious counterpoint to the pathetic and heroic types of figures. By unfolding not through monumentality but through the expression of intimacy, the focus is placed on the individual and their mental state, which is expressed with formal clarity.
