Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd.

Overall in very good condition. Drawing executed in bold strokes. - This drawing, depicting an angel holding a ribbon in his hands, reveals the influence of Alessandro Algardi in its subject matter, composition and colouring. The Roman artist, who was to become one of the most significant sculptors of the 17th century, was trained by Lodovico Carracci at the Accademia degli Incamminati, where he acquired a solid foundation in drawing. Algardi's first sculptural interpretation of an angel was realised between 1636 and 1638 in the larger-than-life marble sculpture 'St Philip Neri', which is located in Santa Maria in Vallicella.
