Elisabetha Dei Gratia Angliae Franciae et Hiberniae Regina. Um 1652. Kupferstich auf Bütten. 31,5 x 19 cm. Aus der Ausgabe Historien der Nederlanden von Emanuel van Meteren. Im oberen Bereich unter Passepartout montiert. Publiziert in Amsterdam von Jan Jacobsz. Schipper.

Historien der Nederlanden, Folge 229. - Der Kupferstich zeigt ein frühes druckgraphisches Porträt Elisabeths I., das einem im höfischen Umkreis verbreiteten Bildnis-Typus folgt. Es handelt sich um einen in die Buchpublikation integrierten Einblattdruck. Verso mit niederländischem Buchdruck. Die künstlerische Vorlage geht vermutlich auf Isaac Oliver zurück. - Altersbedingt leicht gebräunt. Dezent wellig. Insgesamt sehr gut. Gratiger, detailreicher Druck.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Copper engraving on laid paper. Reverse side featuring a Dutch letterpress print. From the edition Historien der Nederlanden by Emanuel van Meteren. Mounted in a passe-partout in the upper section. Published in Amsterdam by Jan Jacobsz. Schipper. - The copperplate engraving depicts an early printed portrait of Elizabeth I, following a portrait style prevalent in courtly circles. It is a single-sheet print incorporated into the book publication. The reverse side features Dutch letterpress printing. The artistic model is thought to be by Isaac Oliver. - Slightly browned due to age. Slightly wavy. Overall very good. Sharp, detailed print.
