Natural Sciences - Zoology – Watercolour on heavy watercolour paper. Signed. - Minimal staining at the edges, slight studio marks on the reverse, with notes in pencil and traces of former mounting. Overall, a splendid print in bright watercolours, with a narrow margin and creator's mark on all sides. - Hansjörg Wagner completed his studies in sculpture with Professor Fritz Behn in Munich in 1956. In addition to creating large sculptures in bronze and stone, the artist taught himself drawing and painting. His oeuvre encompasses sculpture and drawing on the themes of people, animals and nature. The work 'Alley in Jerusalem' documents a snapshot taken by Wagner, presumably on one of his travels through North Africa and the Mediterranean region. Here, he created a large number of watercolours that deal with street scenes as their motif and capture the moment in their spontaneous brushwork, conveying an atmospheric light in warm colour combinations.
