Klassische Moderne
Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Löffler 1932/4. Lorenz NSk 7.3.24. Insgesamt sehr gut.
Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Pencil on vellum. Inscribed by a third party. The sheet is slightly discoloured in places due to age, with faint creases, the edges are slightly irregular and have minor tears of a few millimetres. Overall, very good condition. - Löffler 1932/4. Lorenz NSk 7.3.24. - A drawing by Otto Dix from the period of his retrospective engagement with the First World War, in which he translates his impressions of violence and destruction into a ruthlessly precise visual language. Using rapid, fragmented lines, Dix depicts the figure of the soldier, whose upward movement remains ambivalent, oscillating between vitality and the impression of a war machine, thus, rather than glorifying him, the work addresses the enduring trauma and dehumanisation of modern warfare.
