Akademie der bildenden Künste in Dresden alljährlich veranstalteten Kunstausstellung 1885, Liepsch und Reichardt, Dresden 1885. - Schlabitz, bekannt als Porträt- und Genremaler, bekleidete die Position des Professors an der Königlichen akademischen Hochschule für bildende Künste in Berlin. Seine Laufbahn beginnt 1875-82 an der Kunstakademie in Berlin, der ab 1883 Studien an der Académie Julian in Paris unter Jules-Joseph Lefebvre und Gustave Boulanger folgen. Nach Studienreisen durch Europa und die USA, lebt er zunächst in München, bevor er 1887 nach Berlin zieht und eine private Zeichen- und Malschule eröffnet. In den Folgejahren von 1897 bis 1916 übernimmt er verschiedene Lehrtätigkeiten, zu seinen Schülern zählen u.a. Lyonel Feiniger und August Brömse, in den 1920er bis 1940er Jahren ist er Mitglied im Verein Berliner Künstler und der Ateliergemeinschaft Klosterstraße. - Schlabitz arrangiert in der intimen Sphäre des häuslichen Gartens eine Szenerie alltäglicher Poesie, mehrere Kinder geben sich unter der Aufsicht einer Amme dem Blumensammeln hin, meditativ entstehen naturreichen Floralbänder. - Leicht angestaubt, ganz vereinzelt punktuelle Farbabplatzung, verso punktuelle Farbspur. Gefirnist, unter UV vereinzelte Retusche erkennbar, insgesamt sehr gut. Die Farben frisch.

With catalogue entry. - Schlabitz, known as a portrait and genre painter, held the post of professor at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin. In our painting, he has created a scene of everyday poetry within the intimate setting of a domestic garden, several children, under the supervision of a nanny, are busy gathering flowers, and, in a meditative atmosphere, floral garlands rich in natural beauty take shape. - Slightly dusted, very isolated tiny colour chip. Varnished, under UV isolated retouches visibles, verso isolated colour trace, all in all very good. Colours fresh.
