Blumenmalerei
Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd.
Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Oil on canvas. Signiert and indicated with location. Framed.- Surface partially dusty and with delicate craquelure. Occasional minimal abrasions around the edges. Varnished. Overall in very good condition, with fresh colours and lively brushwork. - This colourful floral still life exemplifies Hans Buchner's preoccupation with decorative natural motifs within Munich still life painting of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In a dense composition, the artist combines various garden flowers into a carefully arranged bouquet, whose luminosity is particularly emphasised by the dark background. The finely graded rendering of flower shapes, colour nuances and light reflections demonstrates the academic precision of his painting style and points to the enduring popularity of floral still lifes in the bourgeois art taste of his time.
