Gemälde, Zeichnungen u. Grafiken 16. bis 19. Jhd. – Kupferstiche vereinzelt mit kleinen Braunflecken versehen. Ränder partiell bestoßen. Mitunter leichte Gilbung verso und im Rand. Insgesamt ausgezeichnete, gratige Stiche, in filigraner Ausführung. - Die 1736 in Augsburg erschienene Folge zählt zu den bekanntesten druckgrafischen Publikationen Johann Elias Ridingers. Das Werk umfasst einen gestochenen Titel sowie 40 Kupfertafeln, die Darstellungen heimischer und exotischer Wildtiere zeigen. Das hier vorliegende Konvolut enthält das gestochene Titelblatt sowie 12 Tafeln, davon sind sechs Darstellungen vom Hochwild, vier von Wildkatzen und zwei Mal Vertreter der Marderartigen (Mustelidae). Unterhalb der Darstellungen finden sich jeweils mehrzeilige Verse des Dichters Barthold Heinrich Brockes, in deutsch, französisch und latein. Die Folge dokumentiert Ridingers naturkundliches Interesse ebenso wie seine herausragende Stellung als Tierdarsteller des 18. Jahrhunderts und verbindet wissenschaftliche Beobachtung mit barocker Repräsentationsgrafik.- Wkz. Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – Collection of 13 depictions from as listed above. - Copperplate engravings on laid paper. 3 Works trimmed at the edges. One work mounted in the upper corners under a passe-partout.- Copper engravings occasionally with small brown spots. Margins partially bumped. Occasional slight yellowing verso and in the margin. Overall, superb, sharp engravings in filigree execution.- The series, published in Augsburg in 1736, is one of Johann Elias Ridinger's best-known print publications. The work comprises an engraved title page and 40 copperplate engravings depicting native and exotic wild animals. This collection contains the engraved title page and 12 plates, six of which depict large game, four wild cats and two times members of the mustelidae family. Below each illustration are several lines of verse by the poet Barthold Heinrich Brockes. The series documents Ridinger's interest in natural history as well as his outstanding position as an animal artist of the 18th century and combines scientific observation with Baroque representational graphics.- C.R.
