VII, Wien 1796. - Der Triumphzug Kaiser Maximilians I. zählt zu den bedeutendsten druckgrafischen Unternehmungen der Renaissance und entstand als Teil des repräsentativen Bildprogramms Kaiser Maximilians I. Die monumentale Folge aus über 130 Holzschnittblättern wurde ab 1512 von mehreren führenden Künstlern ihrer Zeit, darunter Albrecht Altdorfer, Hans Burgkmair the Elder und Albrecht Dürer, nach Entwürfen von Jörg Kölderer ausgeführt. Die Folge zeigt eine idealisierte Triumphprozession des Kaisers nach antikem Vorbild und diente der dynastischen Selbstdarstellung des Hauses Habsburg. - Oberfläche partiell leicht berieben. Papier altersbedingt gegilbt und punktuell braunfleckig. Ecken mit leichten Bestoßungen. Im oberen und unteren Rand vereinzelt kleine Einrisse bis ca. 1 cm. Insgesamt hervorragender, gratiger Druck mit Plattenrand.

Paintings, drawings and prints 16th to 19th century – The Triumphal Procession of Emperor Maximilian I is one of the most important printmaking projects of the Renaissance and was created as part of Emperor Maximilian I's representative image programme. The monumental series of over 130 woodcut sheets was produced from 1512 onwards by several leading artists of their time, including Albrecht Altdorfer, Hans Burgkmair the Elder and Albrecht Dürer, based on designs by Jörg Kölderer. The series depicts an idealised triumphal procession of the emperor based on ancient models and served as a means of dynastic self-representation for the House of Habsburg. -Surface partially slightly rubbed. Paper yellowed due to age and brown spots in places. Corners with slight bumps. Small tears up to approx. 1 cm in the upper and lower margins. Overall, excellent, crisp print with plate edge.
