Orts- und Landeskunde mit verschiedenen Schlagworten – Hrsg. Georg Braun, gestochen von Franz Hogenberg, Köln. - Zusammenstellung von drei westfälischen Stadtansichten aus dem berühmten Städtebuch Civitates Orbis Terrarum, das seit 1572 erschien und zu den bedeutendsten topographischen Unternehmungen des 16. Jahrhunderts zählt. Münster, Osnabrück und Wesel werden in weiter Vogelschau als befestigte und klar strukturierte Stadtanlagen innerhalb ihrer jeweiligen landschaftlichen Umgebung vorgeführt. Die Verbindung von topographischer Anschaulichkeit und repräsentativ gesteigerter Auffassung ist dabei charakteristisch für das Werk. - Blatt altersbedingt gebräunt, mit Buchfalz in der Mitte. Ecken leicht bestoßen. Vereinzelt leicht fleckig und gering knickspurig. Insgesamt gut. - Beigabe: Gezeichnet von Lorenz Janscha, gestochen von Johann Ziegler. Ansicht der Festung Ehrenbreitstein / Vue de la Forteresse d'Ehrenbreitstein. Um 1792. Kolorierter Kupferstich.

Local and Regional Studies – Coloured copperplate engraving on handmade paper. German text on the reverse. - A compilation of three Westphalian city views from the famous atlas Civitates Orbis Terrarum, which was first published in 1572 and ranks among the most significant topographical works of the 16th century. Münster, Osnabrück and Wesel are depicted in a wide bird's-eye view as fortified and clearly structured urban settlements within their respective landscapes. The combination of topographical clarity and a stylised, elevated perspective is characteristic of the work. - Sheet browned with age, with a book fold in the centre. Corners slightly bumped. Scattered light staining and minor crease marks. Overall in good condition. - Additon: Drawn by Lorenz Janscha, engraved by Johann Ziegler. View of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress / Vue de la Forteresse d'Ehrenbreitstein. Circa 1792. Coloured copperplate engraving.
