Geography and Travel – Black ink, pencil and wash in grey on laid paper in four joined parts (watermark "Ruse & Turner, 1812"). Labeled lower left. 24.7 x 137.1 cm. - A large-format, skillfully drawn panorama of what are arguably the world's most famous waterfalls, likely drawn on location from a position labeled "Grand Bank" within the inscription. The unsigned but precisely labeled depiction shows the waterfalls on the left, a sparsely wooded plateau behind as well as in the center, and a wooded hilly landscape with scattered houses on the right. - The laid paper used comes from the Joseph Ruse and Richard Turner paper mill, Upper Tovil Mill, Maidstone, Kent, England. - Several small tears, two of which have minimal losses in the top margin, the creases between the sheets are slightly browned recto, an additional center fold has been reinforced on the verso and is somewhat more heavily browned on the recto, occasionally very little foxing and finger-stains. Overall, a well-preserved, representative drawing.
