Naturwissenschaften – Hansjörg Wagner absolvierte 1956 sein Studium der Bildhauerei bei Professor Fritz Behn in München. Seine Studien von Raubtieren nahmen innerhalb seines Werkes eine besondere Stellung ein. Der hier abgebildete Kragenbär wird auf einem Ast vor einem nur schemenhaft angedeuteten Hintergrund mit kräftigen, teils verwischten Strichen dargestellt. Der Fokus liegt somit direkt auf dem Tierkörper. Möglicherweise handelt es sich bei unserer Arbeit um eine Vorstudie für eine seiner Skulpturen aus Bronze und Stein, von der eine Vielzahl, wie die Eisbärengruppe aus Marmor im Berliner Zoo von 1981, im öffentlichen Raum vertreten sind.

Overall, a very good, expressive drawing. - Hansjörg Wagner completed his studies in sculpture with Professor Fritz Behn in Munich in 1956. His studies of predators occupied a special place in his work. The collared bear depicted here is shown on a branch against a vaguely sketched background with strong, partly blurred lines. The focus is thus directly on the animal's body. Our work may be a preliminary study for one of his bronze and stone sculptures, many of which, such as the marble polar bear group in Berlin Zoo from 1981, are on display in public spaces.
